Description

Delicious Cornish beef pasties featuring a flaky, buttery crust filled with ground beef, vegetables, and seasonings, perfect for a cozy dinner or lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup diced potatoes
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, then drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced potatoes, onions, and carrots to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine the flour and butter in a mixing bowl, then gradually add water to form a smooth dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  6. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture on one half of each circle, fold over, and crimp the edges to seal.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a shiny finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Avoid overworking the dough to maintain flakiness. Feel free to customize with different fillings.
