- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
- 1/2 cup milk or beef broth
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef along with the diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic to the mixture and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk or broth, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
- Mix together the cooked rice, the beef and onion mixture, half of the shredded cheese, and the sauce in your prepared baking dish. Stir well.
- Top with the remaining cheese and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil after 20 minutes and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Broil for 2 minutes for a crispy topping, if desired.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For extra creaminess, add a splash of milk or broth before baking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
