Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Espresso Powder
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (additional, for pecan filling)
  • 1/4 cup Light or Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour (for pecan filling)
  • 1/4 cup Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 Large Egg (slightly whisked, for pecan filling)
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter (for pecan filling)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (for pecan filling)
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1 tbsp Sea Salt Flakes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and adjust the oven rack to the second-level position.
  2. Spray an 8-inch square baking pan with baking spray and consider lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, cocoa powder, and espresso powder in a medium bowl.
  4. Beat melted butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract with a mixer in a large bowl until blended.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness around the 25-minute mark.
  8. Prepare the pecan filling by combining granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, corn syrup, whisked egg, unsalted butter, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Stir continuously until mixed well, then remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans.
  10. Pour the pecan filling over the brownies once baked and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  11. Return the brownies to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, checking around the 15-minute mark.
  12. Cool the brownies completely in the pan before cutting.
  13. Refrigerate for 30-60 minutes before serving for added firmness.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce for added indulgence.
