Description
A hearty bowl of Beef and Broccoli with Stew Meat, a comforting dish with tender beef, vibrant broccoli, and a savory sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef stew meat and brown on all sides for about 4 to 5 minutes. Once browned, remove and set aside.
- Sauté aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Toss in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Build the sauce: Pour in the soy sauce, beef broth, and brown sugar. Stir well, then return the browned beef to the pan. Bring it all to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and allow it to simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the beef is nice and tender.
- Add broccoli: Stir in the broccoli florets. Cover and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and just tender.
- Thicken the sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water. Stir this mixture into the skillet and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Finish off: Drizzle in the sesame oil, give it a stir, and it’s ready to serve hot!
