Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until well blended.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients gradually, stirring until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the beignets from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
  7. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
