Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef brisket, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 jalapeño peppers, chopped
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the cubed brisket and brown it on all sides until nicely caramelized.
- Remove the brisket from the pot and set it aside.
- In the same pot, add the diced onions, garlic, and chopped jalapeños. Sauté until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for a minute to meld the flavors.
- Return the brisket to the pot and pour in the beef broth.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 120-180 minutes until the brisket is tender, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve hot, and enjoy!
Notes
For the best results, choose a well-marbled brisket. Feel free to experiment with spices or add beans for extra heartiness.
