Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef brisket, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the cubed brisket and brown it on all sides until nicely caramelized.
  3. Remove the brisket from the pot and set it aside.
  4. In the same pot, add the diced onions, garlic, and chopped jalapeños. Sauté until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for a minute to meld the flavors.
  6. Return the brisket to the pot and pour in the beef broth.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 120-180 minutes until the brisket is tender, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve hot, and enjoy!
