- 3–4 pounds beef brisket
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Mashed potatoes (for serving)
- Buns (for serving)
- Coleslaw (for serving)
Instructions
- Combine the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt in a bowl. Stir well.
- Place the brisket in your slow cooker and pour the mixture over it.
- Top the brisket with the chopped onion and minced garlic.
- Pour beef broth around the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low for 480-600 minutes, or until the brisket is tender and can be easily shredded.
- Remove the brisket and shred it using two forks, letting the juice soak in.
- Serve it on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes, nestled in warm buns, or alongside a fresh coleslaw.
Notes
You can customize the recipe by substituting beef broth with vegetable broth for a lighter flavor. Searing the brisket enhances the flavors.
