- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter (for melting)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over low heat until combined. Pour this mixture into the bottom of your prepared cake pan.
- Layer the sliced strawberries evenly over the caramelized sugar.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently pour the cake batter over the strawberries in the pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate.
