Description

A delicious twist on a classic dessert with caramelized strawberries atop a fluffy cake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (for melting)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over low heat until combined. Pour this mixture into the bottom of your prepared cake pan.
  3. Layer the sliced strawberries evenly over the caramelized sugar.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Gently pour the cake batter over the strawberries in the pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate.

Notes
