Description
A delightful dish that combines fresh shrimp and crab meat with flaky homemade biscuits, perfect for brunch or dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 pound crab meat (fresh or canned)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk gently, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuit shapes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat, and sauté the shrimp seasoned with Old Bay until they turn pink. Add the crab meat and warm it through.
- Spoon the shrimp and crab mixture generously onto each biscuit. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, ensure the butter is very cold when cutting it into the flour for a flaky texture. You can prepare the biscuit dough ahead of time and refrigerate it if needed.
