Description

A delightful dish that combines fresh shrimp and crab meat with flaky homemade biscuits, perfect for brunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound crab meat (fresh or canned)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the milk gently, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuit shapes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat, and sauté the shrimp seasoned with Old Bay until they turn pink. Add the crab meat and warm it through.
  6. Spoon the shrimp and crab mixture generously onto each biscuit. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure the butter is very cold when cutting it into the flour for a flaky texture. You can prepare the biscuit dough ahead of time and refrigerate it if needed.
