Description

Deliciously sweet and buttery bars with a hint of sea salt, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Cream together the brown sugar and softened butter until you have a smooth mixture.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, and salt. Mix until you form a dough, then press this into the bottom of your greased baking pan.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, honey, vanilla extract, and baking powder in another bowl until fully combined.
  5. Pour the honey mixture over the crust and spread it evenly across the top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and set.
  7. Sprinkle sea salt on top while still warm. Allow bars to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative. To make gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.
