- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
- Cream together the brown sugar and softened butter until you have a smooth mixture.
- Add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, and salt. Mix until you form a dough, then press this into the bottom of your greased baking pan.
- Whisk together the eggs, honey, vanilla extract, and baking powder in another bowl until fully combined.
- Pour the honey mixture over the crust and spread it evenly across the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and set.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top while still warm. Allow bars to cool completely before slicing.

For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative. To make gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.
