Description

Delightful cookie bars with rich chocolate chips and luscious salted caramel, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup homemade salted caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup toasted nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a 9ร—13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, oats, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the creamed ingredients until combined.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and your choice of toasted nuts until evenly distributed.
  6. Spread half of the cookie dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  7. Drizzle the homemade salted caramel sauce over this dough layer.
  8. Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.
  10. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

For a nut-free version, substitute nuts with seeds. You can also use dairy-free chocolate chips for a lactose-intolerant option.
