Description
Comforting Salisbury steak meatballs in a savory gravy, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (85/15 blend)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Combine gently—overmixing can lead to tough meatballs.
- Shape the meatballs: Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch meatballs and set them aside.
- Brown the meatballs: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides. Remove and set aside when done.
- Sauté the onions: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the sliced onions until they are caramelized (about 8-10 minutes).
- Prepare the gravy: Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir for about a minute, then gradually whisk in the beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer until thickened.
- Combine and cook: Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer on low for 10-15 minutes until fully cooked through.
- Serve warm: Enjoy your savory Salisbury steak meatballs with the rich gravy over rice or mashed potatoes.
