Description

Comforting Salisbury steak meatballs in a savory gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 blend)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Combine gently—overmixing can lead to tough meatballs.
  2. Shape the meatballs: Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch meatballs and set them aside.
  3. Brown the meatballs: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides. Remove and set aside when done.
  4. Sauté the onions: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the sliced onions until they are caramelized (about 8-10 minutes).
  5. Prepare the gravy: Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir for about a minute, then gradually whisk in the beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer until thickened.
  6. Combine and cook: Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer on low for 10-15 minutes until fully cooked through.
  7. Serve warm: Enjoy your savory Salisbury steak meatballs with the rich gravy over rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Can freeze meatballs for up to 3 months.
