Description
A festive dessert featuring vibrant layers of red, white, and blue Rice Krispies Treats, perfect for summer celebrations and patriotic gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cups mini marshmallows
- 9 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 9 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Red food dye
- Blue food dye
- Patriotic sprinkles
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Begin by spraying a 9×13 pan with nonstick cooking spray and setting it aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of mini marshmallows and 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Microwave for about 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the marshmallows are smooth when stirred and the butter has melted.
- Add a small amount of red food coloring using a spoon or toothpick and stir quickly until no color streaks remain. Adjust the color to your preference by adding more as needed.
- Fold in 3 cups of Rice Krispies until the cereal is thoroughly coated. Transfer the mixture to the greased pan, spreading it evenly to cover the bottom.
- Repeat the process for the white layer, using 4 cups of marshmallows and 3 tablespoons of butter without adding any food coloring.
- For the blue layer, repeat the same steps but only use 2 drops of blue food coloring to start, adjusting as necessary.
- Finish by adding patriotic sprinkles on top and gently pressing them down so they stick.
- Cover the pan and let it sit for about 240 minutes or until the treats are firm enough to cut into squares before serving.
Notes
These treats can be stored at room temperature for up to a week and can be frozen, layered with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
