Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring into the butter-sugar mix, beating until fully combined.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing just until everything is incorporated.
  6. Scoop out tablespoons of dough, rolling them into balls, then roll each ball in powdered sugar until generously coated.
  7. Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
