Description

A delectable dish of succulent red snapper fillets enveloped in a rich, velvety Creole sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6-ounce) Red Snapper Fillets (Skin on or off)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 0.5 cup Onion (Chopped)
  • 0.5 cup Green Bell Pepper (Chopped)
  • 0.5 cup Celery (Chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1.5 cups Chicken Broth
  • 0.5 cup Heavy Cream
  • 0.25 cup Parsley (Chopped, fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon Creole Seasoning (Or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
  • Salt and Black Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (Optional)
  • Cooked Rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fillets: Start by patting the red snapper fillets dry and season them with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Set aside.
  2. Sauté the veggies: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Sauté until they soften, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and flour: Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the vegetable mix, stirring constantly for another minute to create a roux.
  4. Incorporate liquids: Gradually pour in the chicken broth, stirring to remove any lumps. Follow with the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Creole seasoning. Allow this mixture to simmer, thickening for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Cook the fish: Gently place the seasoned red snapper fillets into the creamy sauce. Cover and cook on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Finish the sauce: If desired, stir in butter for an extra creamy finish. Lastly, sprinkle fresh parsley over the dish before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk or a plant-based cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
