Description
A comforting and creamy dish made with wide egg noodles, sautéed onions, and sour cream, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 8-oz bag wide egg noodles
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup hot pasta water (reserved from noodle cooking)
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 1 pint sour cream
- Chopped fresh chives (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the wide egg noodles in a pot of liberally salted boiling water, following the package instructions until they’re al dente. Reserve 3/4 cup of the hot pasta water, then drain the noodles well.
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until they turn light golden brown.
- Season the onions with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Pour in the reserved hot pasta water and stir in the Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Cook over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes, or until the dried onions become soft.
- Remove from heat, and add the drained noodles and sour cream to the onion mixture. Gently stir until everything is evenly combined.
- Garnish with chopped fresh chives if desired, serving hot.
Notes
For a healthier version, swap in whole wheat noodles, or try flavored butter for a unique twist.
