Description

A delightful dish combining tender chicken, crisp broccoli, and melted cheese wrapped in flaky crescent dough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup broccoli florets (fresh, uncooked)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breasts (about 2 breasts)
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper (finely chopped)
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons dill weed (dried)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages crescent rolls (refrigerated)
  • 1 large egg white
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF and line a 13 x 9-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the broccoli florets, diced chicken, red bell pepper, and garlic in a large bowl, mixing well.
  3. Add the shredded cheese, mayonnaise, salt, and dill to the bowl, and gently combine until all ingredients are mixed.
  4. Roll out a large piece of parchment for assembly and unroll one can of crescent rolls horizontally on it.
  5. Unroll the second can of rolls and lay it right next to the first one, sealing all seams to prevent any filling from leaking.
  6. Spoon the filling down the center of the dough, leaving about an inch at both the top and bottom.
  7. Cut 1-inch strips diagonally on each side of the dough toward the filling, creating about 10 strips on each side.
  8. Braid by lifting one strip from one side and crossing it over the filling; repeat until the whole filling is covered, sealing any gaps.
  9. Transfer the braid to the prepared baking sheet, brush the dough with the egg white using a pastry brush, and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
  10. Bake for 24-28 minutes until golden brown and flaky.

Notes

This dish pairs beautifully with a fresh green salad or sautรฉed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
