Description

A delightful cake that combines zesty orange flavors with a light, airy texture, perfect for summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the frosting)
  • Fresh orange slices (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one by one, ensuring each is incorporated fully before adding the next.
  4. Mix in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Whisk together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until you achieve soft peaks.
  11. Spread the whipped frosting between the cake layers and across the top.
  12. Garnish with fresh orange slices.
  13. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Best served chilled; pairs nicely with vanilla ice cream or herbal tea.
