Description

A delicious and comforting dish featuring seared ribeye steaks topped with rich onion gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks: Sprinkle salt and pepper on the ribeye steaks on both sides.
  2. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, add the olive oil and heat over medium-high.
  3. Sear the steaks: Place the steaks in the skillet, searing for 4-5 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Once done, remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté the onions: Using the same skillet, add sliced onions. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown.
  5. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  6. Make the gravy: Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
  7. Thicken the gravy: Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then gradually add this to the simmering gravy while stirring. Continue until the gravy thickens.
  8. Return steaks to skillet: Place the seared steaks back into the skillet and pour the gravy over. Let it all simmer for another 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
  9. Garnish: Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the steaks in soy sauce and garlic before cooking.
