Description
A delicious and comforting dish featuring seared ribeye steaks topped with rich onion gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the steaks: Sprinkle salt and pepper on the ribeye steaks on both sides.
- Heat the oil: In a large skillet, add the olive oil and heat over medium-high.
- Sear the steaks: Place the steaks in the skillet, searing for 4-5 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Once done, remove and set aside.
- Sauté the onions: Using the same skillet, add sliced onions. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown.
- Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Make the gravy: Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
- Thicken the gravy: Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then gradually add this to the simmering gravy while stirring. Continue until the gravy thickens.
- Return steaks to skillet: Place the seared steaks back into the skillet and pour the gravy over. Let it all simmer for another 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Garnish: Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider marinating the steaks in soy sauce and garlic before cooking.
