Description

A juicy Mushroom and Swiss Burger featuring flavorful meat, sautéed mushrooms, and creamy Swiss cheese for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • ½ yellow onion (sliced thin)
  • 8 ounces baby bella or white mushrooms (washed and sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (for burgers)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons seasoning salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Cook the mushrooms: In a skillet over medium heat, add the canola or vegetable oil and salted butter. Once melted, add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the mushrooms, Dijon mustard, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mushrooms are tender and most moisture has evaporated. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Shape the mixture into four equal patties.
  3. Cook the burgers: Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired doneness. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.
  4. Assemble your burger: Toast the hamburger buns (if desired). Layer each bun with a juicy patty topped with mushrooms, and close with the other half of the bun.

Notes

Serve with crispy sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal. Adjust the toppings and side dishes to your preference.
