Description

A delightful blend of creamy cheesecake and fresh strawberries baked into a thick-cut brioche, perfect for brunch or a special breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 12 slices thick-cut brioche or challah, cubed
  • 10 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup seedless strawberry jam
  • 1/2 cup high-quality maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the egg, lemon juice, and salt. Mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, whole milk, half-and-half, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in another bowl.
  4. Place the cubed brioche into the greased baking dish, then pour the cream cheese mixture over it, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the top, gently pressing down to soak the bread.
  6. Layer the quartered strawberries throughout for bursts of flavor.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Warm the strawberry jam and mix it with maple syrup. Drizzle over the baked French toast before serving.

Notes

Line your baking dish with parchment paper for easy clean-up. Let the assembled bake sit overnight for a creamier texture if desired.
