  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 egg (optional; can use a flax egg for vegan)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the ground meat with the egg, salt, and pepper, then form into small meatballs.
  3. Brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat until nicely seared.
  4. Layer the mashed potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Assemble the casserole with the browned meatballs topped with marinara sauce.
