- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest

- 1/4 cup sugar (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk (for icing)
- Extra lemon zest for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice in another bowl.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry mix. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm location for about 60 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the lemon vanilla sugar filling over the top.
- Carefully roll the dough tightly and slice it into individual rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden.
- Beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and creamy for the icing.
- Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls and top with extra lemon zest for garnish.

For a dairy-free option, substitute almond milk, and gluten-free flour blend can be used for those with sensitivities.
