Description

A delightful twist on traditional garlic bread featuring a creamy cheese filling and fragrant garlic butter, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cup warm water (around 90-110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 4½ cup all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg (beaten, optional for egg wash)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • ½ cup whole milk (or half & half)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for garlic butter)
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
  • 1½ tablespoons dry parsley flakes
  • 2 large eggs (for filling)
  • Kosher salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Mix together flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Gradually stir in the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1-1½ hours.
  4. Combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and eggs in a separate bowl. Mix until smooth.
  5. Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, and sugar in a bowl for the garlic butter.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces.
  8. Flatten each piece and add a spoonful of cream cheese filling. Roll them into balls and place them in a baking dish.
  9. Brush the dough balls with garlic butter, sprinkling lightly with kosher salt.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese and butter with plant-based alternatives. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best results.
