- 4½ cup all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 large egg (beaten, optional for egg wash)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- ½ cup whole milk (or half & half)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for garlic butter)
- 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
- 1½ tablespoons dry parsley flakes
- 2 large eggs (for filling)
- Kosher salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Combine warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Mix together flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Gradually stir in the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth, about 8-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1-1½ hours.
- Combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and eggs in a separate bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, and sugar in a bowl for the garlic butter.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces.
- Flatten each piece and add a spoonful of cream cheese filling. Roll them into balls and place them in a baking dish.
- Brush the dough balls with garlic butter, sprinkling lightly with kosher salt.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
