- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup Kahlua
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl and whisk until well blended.
- Mix the softened butter, eggs, Kahlua, brewed coffee, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Beat together butter, powdered sugar, Kahlua, and brewed coffee until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Frost the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
- Slice into generous pieces and enjoy your delicious cake!
