Description

A delightful dessert featuring creamy vanilla custard and fresh fruits, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made tart shell
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mixed fresh fruits (like strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, etc.)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Bake the tart shell according to the package instructions, then allow it to cool completely.
  2. Heat the Milk: In a saucepan, combine the milk and half of the granulated sugar. Heat over medium until warmed but not boiling.
  3. Mix Egg Yolks: In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, the remaining sugar, and cornstarch until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the warm milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture while whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
  5. Thicken the Custard: Return the combined mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat. Stir continuously until the custard thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Add Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract for that irresistible flavor.
  7. Fill the Tart Shell: Pour the custard into the cooled tart shell, smoothing the top with a spatula. Refrigerate for about 120-180 minutes, or until set.
  8. Top with Fresh Fruit: Before serving, decorate the tart with your selected mixed fresh fruits for a pop of color and freshness.
  9. Serve with Whipped Cream: Serve slices of the tart topped with whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk, and use sugar substitutes if needed.
