Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in enough ice water to form a dough.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to an 1/8 inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Place a spoonful of cherry filling in the center of each square.
- Fold the dough over to form a triangle and seal the edges with a fork.
- Transfer the turnovers to a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle sugar on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar or serve with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
