Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water

  2. Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in enough ice water to form a dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to an 1/8 inch thickness and cut into squares.
  6. Place a spoonful of cherry filling in the center of each square.
  7. Fold the dough over to form a triangle and seal the edges with a fork.
  8. Transfer the turnovers to a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle sugar on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes
