Description

A delightful dessert combining soft Hawaiian rolls filled with creamy Boston cream pie filling, topped with chocolate drizzle.


Ingredients

  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Mix together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and cornstarch in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring consistently until it thickens.
  2. Whisk together the egg yolks and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Gradually temper the hot mixture into the egg yolks by adding a bit at a time without cooking the eggs.
  3. Combine everything back in the saucepan and return to heat until it thickens to a pudding-like consistency. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  4. Split the Hawaiian rolls open and generously fill them with the cooled Boston cream pie filling.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips along with the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  6. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the filled rolls, letting it pool enticingly on the sides.
  7. Dust the rolls with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a quicker option, use store-bought pudding mix instead of making your filling from scratch.
