Description
A delightful dessert combining soft Hawaiian rolls filled with creamy Boston cream pie filling, topped with chocolate drizzle.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package Hawaiian rolls
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp butter
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Mix together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and cornstarch in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring consistently until it thickens.
- Whisk together the egg yolks and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Gradually temper the hot mixture into the egg yolks by adding a bit at a time without cooking the eggs.
- Combine everything back in the saucepan and return to heat until it thickens to a pudding-like consistency. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
- Split the Hawaiian rolls open and generously fill them with the cooled Boston cream pie filling.
- Melt the chocolate chips along with the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until you achieve a smooth consistency.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the filled rolls, letting it pool enticingly on the sides.
- Dust the rolls with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a quicker option, use store-bought pudding mix instead of making your filling from scratch.
