Description

Crispy and fluffy German potato pancakes that are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups grated potatoes
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by grating the potatoes and onion into a mixing bowl, making sure to squeeze out any excess moisture.
  2. Add the egg, flour, salt, and pepper to the mix. Stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Heat a generous amount of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil. Flatten them slightly with the back of a spoon.
  5. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain the pancakes on paper towels to remove excess oil, and serve them hot.

Notes

Serve with applesauce, sour cream, or fresh herbs for added flavor. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
