Ingredients

- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 2 cups water or broth (vegetable or chicken)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- Melt the butter in a medium pot over medium heat until it starts to bubble.
- Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic, sautรฉing until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in the turmeric and let it cook for an additional minute to release its flavor.
- Add the rice to the pot, stirring to coat the grains in the mixture.
- Pour in the water or broth, adding salt to taste.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
- Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute the broth for a vegetarian option or use olive oil instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
