Description

A quick and satisfying pasta dish featuring creamy sauce and savory Italian sausage, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pasta (penne or fettuccine recommended)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (spicy or sweet)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil.
  2. Cook the sausage: Crumble the sausage into the skillet, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze with broth: Add a splash of chicken broth to deglaze the skillet, scraping up any browned bits.
  5. Create the sauce: Pour in the remaining chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in parmesan cheese and let simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Combine and toss: Add cooked sausage and pasta to the skillet. Toss until well-coated in the creamy sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Serve: Dish up the pasta hot, topped with fresh basil and extra parmesan if desired. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

For best results, use freshly grated parmesan cheese. Add a splash of white wine for an extra flavor boost.
