- 1 lb Italian sausage (spicy or sweet)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil.
- Cook the sausage: Crumble the sausage into the skillet, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Deglaze with broth: Add a splash of chicken broth to deglaze the skillet, scraping up any browned bits.
- Create the sauce: Pour in the remaining chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in parmesan cheese and let simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Combine and toss: Add cooked sausage and pasta to the skillet. Toss until well-coated in the creamy sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Serve: Dish up the pasta hot, topped with fresh basil and extra parmesan if desired. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
For best results, use freshly grated parmesan cheese. Add a splash of white wine for an extra flavor boost.
