Description

A rich and decadent cake combining chocolate and pistachios, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter with granulated sugar in a larger bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring to mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped pistachios and semi-sweet chocolate chips gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing it out evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Frost with chocolate ganache or serve it with whipped cream and additional pistachios if desired.
