Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or non-stick spray.
- Arrange the cubed bread into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle raisins on top if using.
- Whisk the eggs in a large mixing bowl until fully blended.
- Mix the whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg into the bowl and whisk until combined and smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread, ensuring each piece is soaked.
- Let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 15 minutes before serving.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl to make the vanilla sauce.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of vanilla sauce.

Bread choice is crucial—stale bread works best. Feel free to substitute raisins with other dried fruits or chocolate chips for variety.
