Description
A comforting and creamy pasta dish featuring earthy mushrooms and robust Marsala wine.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz pasta (fettuccine or tagliatelle)
- 2 cups mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup Marsala wine
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Begin by boiling water in a large pot. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add mushrooms and garlic: Toss in the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are golden brown, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Deglaze with Marsala wine: Pour the Marsala wine into the skillet, scraping the bottom to lift any flavorful bits. Allow it to simmer and reduce slightly for about 5 minutes.
- Create the creamy sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce thicken for a few minutes, stirring regularly.
- Combine with pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together to ensure the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
- Serve and garnish: Plate the pasta hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for an added pop of color and flavor.
Notes
For a delightful presentation, toss the pasta in its sauce right before serving. Consider pairing with garlic bread or a green salad.
