Description
A comforting dish featuring tender beef patties in a savory mushroom gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
- 1 cup Italian-Style Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 large Egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 8 ounces Sliced Mushrooms
- 1 large Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 10.5 ounces Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1 packet Beefy Onion Soup Mix
Instructions
- Prepare the patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into even-sized patties.
- Brown the patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties, about 3-4 minutes per side, until nicely seared. Don’t worry if they’re not cooked through; they’ll finish cooking in the Crockpot.
- Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms, chopped onions, and minced garlic, cooking until softened—about 3-5 minutes.
- Assemble in the Crockpot: Place the browned patties in the Crockpot. Top them with the sautéed vegetables, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, and the packet of beefy onion soup mix.
- Cook low and slow: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4 hours, until the patties are tender.
- Serve and enjoy: Before serving, give the gravy a good stir. Serve the Salisbury steak over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
Consider alternatives like ground turkey for a lighter version.
