Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  5. Mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the rolled dough.
  6. Cut the dough into strips and twist each piece together. Place them on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown.
  8. Whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze while the twists are baking.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the twists while they’re still warm.

Notes

These twists can be enhanced with chopped nuts, Nutella, or seasonal spices. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for longer storage.
