- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glazing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
- Mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the rolled dough.
- Cut the dough into strips and twist each piece together. Place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze while the twists are baking.
- Drizzle the glaze over the twists while they’re still warm.
Notes
These twists can be enhanced with chopped nuts, Nutella, or seasonal spices. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for longer storage.
