Description
Indulge in these easy-to-make Chocolate Coconut Bars, featuring a buttery graham cracker base layered with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and coconut flakes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups fine graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, separated
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and prepare an 8″x8″ baking dish by greasing it lightly.
- Combine the fine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a small mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to the baking dish, pressing firmly across the bottom to form an even crust.
- Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust, then sprinkle the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt across the top.
- Scatter the chocolate chips over the milk layer, followed by the coconut flakes. Gently press the toppings into the condensed milk using the tines of a fork.
- Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, until the coconut is tinging golden-brown.
- Remove the dish from the oven and run a sharp knife along the edges to loosen the bars.
- Allow the bars to cool completely, which should take about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once cooled, cut into 12 bars or 16 squares, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
These bars are best enjoyed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzled with chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
