Description

A stunning dessert that combines delicate floral notes and luscious layers, ideal for springtime gatherings and elegant afternoon teas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cherry blossom syrup
  • 1/2 cup cherry preserves
  • 1 cup whipped cream for frosting
  • Edible flowers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and cherry blossom syrup, letting the flavors mingle.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Gradually incorporate this into the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, spread a layer of cherry preserves between the cakes, and generously frost the top and sides with whipped cream.
  10. Decorate with beautiful edible flowers before serving.
