Description

A hearty and flavorful one-pan meal featuring tender steak, melty cheese, and perfectly cooked rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped parsley, hot sauce, sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Warm a large skillet over medium heat and pour in the olive oil.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent (about 3–4 minutes).
  3. Increase heat to medium-high. Place the steak pieces in the skillet in a single layer and season with salt and pepper. Allow them to sear undisturbed for 1–2 minutes, then stir to brown all sides (about 4–6 minutes total).
  4. Pour in the beef broth and deglaze the pan. Scrape up any browned bits to incorporate that delicious flavor. Let simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the skillet, stirring until everything is evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the mixture, then cover the skillet. Allow it to sit off the heat for 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Uncover the skillet, stir to combine the melted cheese throughout, and serve hot. Garnish with optional parsley, hot sauce, or sliced green onions.

Notes

Feel free to customize with different steak cuts, rice types, and cheese varieties. Serve hot.
