- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of your favorites)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or a homemade alternative)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for another 3-4 minutes.
- Mix the cooked beef mixture with the cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Layer the beef mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over it.
- Top with a layer of frozen tater tots.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot, garnished with optional toppings like diced pickles, ketchup, or mustard.

For vegetarian, swap the beef for lentils; for lactose-free, consider non-dairy milk and cheese.
