Description

A delightful fusion dish that brings together the vibrant flavors of sushi in a quick, easy-to-make bowl format.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 2 sheets nori, cut into strips
  • Soy sauce, for serving
  • Pickled ginger, for serving
  • Wasabi, for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a pot, then bring it to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the water is fully absorbed.
  4. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 10 minutes.
  5. Whisk together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until fully dissolved.
  6. Incorporate this mixture into the warm sushi rice gently.
  7. Divide the seasoned sushi rice among serving bowls.
  8. Top each bowl with julienned cucumber, sliced avocado, shredded imitation crab, and nori strips.
  9. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side.

Notes

Store leftover rice and toppings separately in airtight containers. Best enjoyed fresh.
