Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pan.
- Cream together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before icing.
- Melt butter in a saucepan, add brown sugar and heavy cream, stirring until gentle boil.
- Cook for 2 minutes, remove from heat, and stir in vanilla extract.
- Drizzle icing over the cooled cake.

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. You can substitute buttermilk with a mix of milk and vinegar or lemon juice.
