- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mash the ripe bananas until smooth in a large mixing bowl.
- Add in the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chocolate chips gently.
- Whisk together the milk and egg in a separate bowl, then add to the dry mixture. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead gently, and shape it into a disc.
- Cut the disc into wedges and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving, if you can resist!
Notes
Serve warm with butter or cream cheese. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
