Description

Delicious scones infused with banana and chocolate chips, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mash the ripe bananas until smooth in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add in the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips gently.
  6. Whisk together the milk and egg in a separate bowl, then add to the dry mixture. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead gently, and shape it into a disc.
  8. Cut the disc into wedges and place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly before serving, if you can resist!

Notes

Serve warm with butter or cream cheese. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
