Description

Crispy and gooey baked mozzarella sticks, perfect for parties or a fun snack.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp olive or grape seed oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1/3 cup marinara sauce for dipping
  • Ranch dressing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work area with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat until a drop of water sizzles.
  3. Add Italian breadcrumbs to the skillet and stir for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to one of your pans.
  4. Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and coat each one in flour, shaking off excess.
  5. Dunk the stick in beaten eggs, then drain excess before moving to the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Roll the stick in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Repeat for all cheese sticks, spacing them out on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 400˚F for 9-11 minutes until cheese begins to bubble.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool for 2 minutes, and serve warm with marinara and ranch for dipping.

Notes

Consider using flavored breadcrumbs for extra taste. Can freeze prepared sticks to bake later.
