- 1 cup all-purpose flour (130 g)
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅓ cup brown sugar (lightly packed, 60 g)
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup apple butter (210 g)
- ¼ cup vegetable oil (50 g)
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Oil or melted butter for the pan
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- ¾ cup powdered sugar (75 g)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and brush the donut pan with melted butter.
- Mix the egg, apple butter, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until combined.
- Add the brown sugar to the wet mixture and whisk thoroughly.
- Prepare the dry ingredients by sifting together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt in a smaller bowl.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients gently until just mixed.
- Fill each cavity of the prepared donut pan with about 3 ½ tablespoons of batter.
- Bake in the oven for approximately 10 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Make the glaze by whisking together maple syrup and powdered sugar until thick.
- Glaze the cooled donuts by dipping one side into the glaze and letting the excess drip off.
Notes
For extra flavor, serve with whipped cream, or warm with ice cream.
