Description

A rich and hearty Italian dish that combines ground beef and pork with aromatic vegetables and red wine, simmered to perfection.


Ingredients

  • Pappardelle pasta
  • Ground beef
  • Ground pork
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1 Carrot, chopped
  • 1 Celery stalk, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 can Canned tomatoes
  • 1 cup Red wine
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery; sauté until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for one additional minute.
  4. Stir in the ground beef and pork, cooking until browned.
  5. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  6. Add the canned tomatoes, salt, and black pepper, then let it simmer for at least an hour.
  7. Cook the pappardelle pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  8. Drain the pasta and mix it with the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap traditional pasta for zucchini noodles. For extra flavor, let the sauce simmer longer.
