Description

A delightful combination of tender cake and cinnamon-spiced apples, perfect for sharing during family gatherings or enjoying with coffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples (peeled and cored)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl, then set it aside.
  3. Whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth and blended.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid over-mixing!
  5. Fold in the diced apples with care; you want those delicious pieces throughout your bread.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Whisk together powdered sugar and milk for the glaze, and drizzle it over the cooled loaf for that finishing touch!

Notes

Best served warm with butter or whipped cream. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to three days.
