- 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
- 1 Egg (Beaten)
- 1 Onion (Finely diced)
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
- 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion (Sliced)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl and gently mix.
- Shape the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
- Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side.
- Melt the butter in the same skillet and sauté the sliced onions until translucent.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir for about 2 minutes.
- Whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until combined and bubbling.
- Nestle the browned patties back into the gravy and cover tightly with a lid or foil.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or a side salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
