Description

Delightful almond-filled pastries with a unique claw-shaped design, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 cup almond paste
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Sliced almonds (for topping)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Combine almond paste, granulated sugar, and softened butter in a bowl and mix until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond filling generously over one half of the puff pastry.
  5. Fold the pastry over to cover the almond filling and press firmly to seal the edges.
  6. Make several slits on the top of the pastry to create the claw-like appearance.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a beautiful, golden finish.
  8. Sprinkle sliced almonds generously on top.
  9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is beautifully golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Use cold ingredients for a flakier pastry and donโ€™t skip the egg wash for a nice sheen.
