Description

A plant-based twist on classic tacos with a flavorful and crispy tofu filling.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 14 oz super firm tofu
  • ½ cup restaurant-style salsa

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Create the flavor paste by mixing soy sauce, lime juice, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, chili powder, and cornstarch.
  3. Crumble the tofu using your hands or a fork into small bits.
  4. Coat the crumbled tofu in the flavor paste until evenly covered.
  5. Bake the tofu for 15 minutes spread evenly on the baking sheet.
  6. Flip the tofu and return to the oven for another 10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Mix in the salsa and ensure all tofu crumbles are well-coated.
  8. Serve in taco shells or over a salad!

Notes

Best served with fresh toppings like cilantro, avocado, and hot sauce. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
